HOTXBUNS is an annual cycle ride of 100+ miles. It takes place around Easter and is now, after the Covid break, in its 14th year. The ride is open to everyone.
Start and finish at Old School Church Halls (next to De Stefano car showrooms) BR2 7BA. The entrance to the Hall is via the car park.
The country ride consists of 4 stages of about 25 miles each. Lunch at Wetherspoons at Brighton Marina, BN2 5UT.
The cost of £25 for the day covers:
- Hot Cross Buns before you set off from Old School Church Halls
- Full mechanical support by a mobile mechanic (Dave and Andy in the Panagua Van and car)
- Phil will also be helping out in his vehicle
- Coffee & Snacks at the Ardingly Inn after 33 miles
- Lunch at Wetherspoons in Brighton Marina after 55 miles
- Refreshments at Old School Hall on your return
- Support of St Christophers, for each entry £10 will go to this charity.
Acknowledgements of support from:
- Sponge Kitchens will supply the lovely Hot Cross Buns
- Old Village Café for the return refreshments.
The event is open to all, you do not need to be a member of either Panagua CC or Bigfoot CC to take part, but first places are offered to these clubs.

- 7:30 Arrive for hot cross buns at the Old School Church Halls
- 8:00 Discussion of the route and thanks from St Christopher’s Hospice

HOT GROUP* – with chaperones
DEPART from 8.15am @ 13 – 14mph for those who want to take it easy
Suits BF levels 4,5 – Max Groups of 8
CROSS GROUP
DEPART from 8.25am @ 14 – 15mph for those who want to admire the view
Suits BF levels 2,3,4 – Max Groups of 8
BUNS GROUP
DEPART from 8.35am @ 15 – 16mph for those who are prepared to ‘go for it’.
Suits BF levels 1,2,3 – Max Groups of 8.
Stages
- 32 miles. Hayes – Ardingly Inn for coffee 10:15 – 11:00
- 22 miles. Ardingly – Brighton for lunch 11.45am – 13.15pm
- 27 miles. Brighton – Tulleys Farm for tea 2.45 – 4.00pm
- 27 miles. Tulleys Farm – Home 4pm – 6.30pm
Mechanical support is provided at all stops, plus 14 miles at Outwood Windmill and 90 miles at Bletchingley.
The Hot groups* will have chaperones who are experienced in distance riding and will help you through the day. Do join a group where you are not stretched. Chaperones are Steve Pike, James Roberts and Jon Bentley (Jon to Brighton only). Please indicate below if you plan to finish at Brighton or do the whole event.

To allocate resources and to track riders, please enter:
- your name
- the level you wish to ride (Hot, Cross or Buns)
- if you are cycling the return leg to Hayes
- indicate if you are an experienced rider and would like to be a chaperone.

I seem to have many on my garmin but just need to check if singing from the same song sheet for the Hot Cross Buns
