We have some great news here at the Bigfoot CC HQ (Hayes Village Cafe). We are very proud to announce that we have been able to agree a brand new longterm sponsorship programme with Lord Sugar’s company ‘Sinclair Computers’ lasting through to February 29th 2021.

As part of this programme, Sinclair Computers will provide all active members with the new Sinclair ZX81 GPS system, to automatically track and log our club rides via the Strava ZX81 online club.

These new units are yet to be released on the open market but as you can see from the photo of Lord Sugar, they look just like the familiar Garmin 1000 units many of you already own – but we have been reliably informed that these work straight out of the box and don’t need a masters degree to get working. The Zx81 units, handlebar mounts and software are currently in development with an estimated launch of December 2020.

As part of this new partnership, Lord Sugar has requested that our club changes name for the duration of the agreement.

So with immediate effect and after much deliberation, our new club name will be ‘The Apprentice Cycle Club’. We like to think it has a nice ring to it and we hope you all agree.

We met with Lord Sugar last week to finalise the details and he asked for us to publish the following statement.

I really like bicycles because they usually have two wheels which are normally much smarter than just having one wheel. Also they are also much cheaper than cars unless like me you can afford to have several bikes that each cost more than my Rolls Royce.

I have been a long term admirer of your club that was previously known as Bigfoot CC, but always felt that the name didn’t really represent the clubs membership base. Seriously, not everyone has ‘huge’ feet and not everyone aspires to have them either – so I do think this has excluded a large number of the local cyclists in the Bromley area. I think the new name will address that as clearly you all have a lot to learn from a cyclist as amazing as me.

The committee didn’t quite agree so I had no choice but to tell them all ‘you’re fired’.

Please note that ALL members will need to purchase a new ‘I’m a Cycle Apprentice” club shirt in order to ride with the club.  Please email TheApprentice@bigfootcc.co.uk for details.

Kind regards from the new and hugely improved Bigfoot CC Committee.

Happy Easter.
