Missed doing this last year and keen to give it a go this year. Has anyone booked accomodation - did hear indifferent reports about the Etap Hotel in Abbeville.
PS Will the John Bull set be available again this year!
Barry
Motels that provide accommodation are now accepting bookings. I know some comments have been made about the Etap but for 45€ for a room it is very reasonably priced. After all you are only there for one night!
I have already booked myself a room there.
And yes, the John Bull kit is still available!

Hi, yes I have also booked on the Ronde Picardy,(well I sent 47 euros to some bloke in France....) first time for me - what are the details for the Etap hotel - or any other suggestions where to stay ??
In case just doing the Ronde Picarde is not enough, check out what some of us are up to in the week leading up to it. There is room for one more if you would like to join us riding up, down and around Mont Ventoux.
Peter, you will need a medical form for any event in France. For the Ronde you can either scan it and send in advance or hand it in on the day. Dr Mike Ward has forms.....
Peter,
Don't panic too much, last year Rachael & I didn't get our numbers and we were panicking for months, we were emailing them and getting no response, even down to the day we arrived in Abbeville, we took all our emails and proof of payments from bank statements, medical certificate etc. when we went to the sign on, it was so relaxed and they just said ok, fine, didn't even look at the medical certificate ! So don't worry :)
I have entered many events in France and Belgium, both on line and on the line including last years Ronde, and have never needed to provide a medical form. BC or LVRC licence number have always been sufficient. BC membership gives you a Racing Licence albeit provisional.
Just wondering who wants a meal on the Friday night before the Ronde Picarde this year. We could go to the restaurant we went to last year - pasta and pizzas - opposite the Mercure Hotel. Let me know and I'll book it when Mr G and I get there.
Yes it was (although it was painted blue last year) - or we could go to Le Celavone (30, Place du Grand Marché, 80100 Abbeville, 03 22 24 90 69) where we went the year before. (last year they had gone away on their annual holdiday) Which would you like?
I managed to get two rooms in the IBIS Abbeville, it is I am told about 1.6 miles from town centre. We are only staying Friday night and coming back via Euro Tunnel. Etape and a couple of other hotels seem to be full. Hope you have some luck.
The Charlotin is booked for this Friday at 7pm for 19 people. Be there or be square.

(Dave and Tina, Phil, Angie, Den, Rachel, Garry, Barry, Mick, Peter, Michelle, Jon B, Pete, Mike, Mike, Mike, John G, me and Mr G. The Charlotin is opposite the Mercure Hotel. Details in post above.)
I'm shortly going to cancel a reservation for Friday night in the Etape hotel as Mr Asbo will not be joining us. Before I do so does anyone need the room?
All intentions to complete the 185km course (I was 5 mins ahead of Pete S at the time) were blown out the window when I had a major blow out descending a left hand bend at speed.
I could stick a finger through the hole in my tyre and, after hanging around for 45 mins, was on the verge of abandoning when Den, Rachael, Angie, Garry G, Michelle, Karen and Peter arrived. Den had a tyre boot patch with him and I was able to effect a temporary repair.
I had lost so much time I decided to continue with Den et al on the 120 km course. And what a pleasurable and enjoyable ride that turned out to be.
A huge thanks to all of the group for stopping and especial thanks to Den for the boot patch. I owe you one.
Mike
